One day the oldest daughter started working at Blockbuster with me and I recognized her as the girl who would come in often with her family to rent movies. We became friends. We made inside jokes. We got to know each other. One day I asked her if she wanted to watch some B-horror movies one day after work. Lucky for me, she said yes.
And now, almost 5 years later, we're going to be married. Despite difficulties of life, work, and school...on April 6, 2012 we will become Mr & Mrs Peter Woodward III and will begin the rest of our lives.
The above picture is from the proposal. Brandi's mom (Ms. Sandy) and I planned a trip to NYC last April so that I could propose to Brandi there. The tricky part is...that Brandi thought she and her mom were planning the trip to be a surprise for my birthday and that I didn't know about it. When we got to NYC, we spent a few hours in Central Park and made our way to Times Square for our Broadway show The Phantom of the Opera (which was AMAZING). Before we headed to the show, I told Brandi I wanted to ride the big Toys 'R Us ferris wheel.
So while she was buying the ticket for the ferris wheel, I "held our place in line." What I was really doing was telling the ticket guy that I was going to propose and asked if he could video it on my iPod. I told Brandi that I was going to get the guy to record us riding and she was getting embarrassed and telling him not to worry about it. As she was going to take the iPod back, I grabbed her hand and knelt to one knee. I, of course, dropped the ring because of the springiness of the ring box.
